I still care a lot. I still pay close attention to events in the news. I roundly condemn the entirely too frequent shootings of Black people by trigger happy cops. I still want to see dignity and integrity in our national government.
But I don’t have the problem I see a lot of people mention about how to maintain their sanity.
I know the secret that is not a secret at all and that I, along with a lot of other people, am only too happy to shout from the rooftops, metaphorically, anyway.
The Buddha taught non attachment, which is not at all the same as not caring. It is realizing that all is impermanence and that horrible events may last longer than we want, but they do come to an end eventually.
It is about realizing that there is no point in worrying about events you have no control over.
It is about realizing that obsessing over events that you cannot control helps no one but makes you miserable.
It is about realizing that meditation leads to peace.
So meditate and help yourself to peace.
