To awaken
We humans are deeply perverse.
The first noble truth is that suffering, or disappointment, or frustration (dukkha) happens. The third noble truth is that the end of dukkha is possible. The second noble truth is that clinging is the source of dukkha.
It’s an over simplification, but ending dukkha is partly just a matter of choice. We remain stuck in samsara, the human condition with our share of dukkha, because we choose not to let go of everything.
The fourth noble truth is the noble eightfold path, a set of principles about how to understand and escape the state of dukkha. It can look complicated. The teachings of the Buddha are voluminous.
But none of it will help if you don’t choose to awaken. This is where meditation is key. All of this becomes obvious with a consistent meditation practice.
Awakening is a very simple, but profound, change in your perspective on the world. Don’t complicate. It’s simple. Start by choosing to awaken and to commit to a consitent meditation practice.
